The Tutoring Annex, LLC is always looking for certified teachers or college faculty to join our program. We are owned, operated and managed by public school teachers. We are endorsed by local Teacher Unions and have been featured in many local publications.
Joining our program is simple. Simply click here to register. From there, simply fill in your profile and select submit. You will need to upload a copy of your teaching certificate and background check. You may also fax a copy to our office at (877) 831-0149. We suggest that you view our company video to gain an understanding of how our company works.

How do I join?To join our company you must have a teaching certificate and background check. You can attain a copy from the your current school system administrators or you can go to http://www.nj.gov/education/educators/crimhist/ and order one online. College Faculty must provide a letter of employment from their college/university. Select the teacher login link at the bottom of the page. You will need to fill in all the fields on the registration page. Please also upload your teaching certificate and background check with your social security number and address removed or covered from this documentation. You may also fax this documentation to (877) 831-0149. After we have this documentation we will review your documentation and activate your profile within 24 hours. Profiles that do not have their teaching certification and background check uploaded are deleted after 3 days
I don't have a copy of my background check or teacher certificate.We require that all of our teachers upload, mail or fax a copy of their background check or teacher certificate. Teachers that are on maternity leave or have retired can still attain a copy of this documentation from their prior school district. NJ teachers can attain a copy from the state at http://www.nj.gov/education/educators/crimhist/
How much do I get paid?All teachers choose their own hourly rates. We charge $6.95 per hour. So if you charge $47.00 an hour you will net $40.05 an hour.
How do I get paid?All teachers are paid on the 1st and 16th of every month. We pay via PayPal so you are required to open a PayPal account prior to receiving payment. Please make sure your account email address in your profile is the same as your Pay-Pal account. We only pay for services that have been rendered, so if a client pre-pays for a month you will be paid for the days that you have actually tutored.
How are taxes handled?Teachers are all classified as independent contracts. As an independent contractor you will be responsible for your own taxes at the end of the year. Teachers who earn over $600.00 a year will have a copy of their 1099 sent to the IRS per federal mandate.
How do I add my fees and schedule?Once your profile is active you will be able to log on and enter your hourly fees and schedule. Keep in mind that your schedule is legally binding so you must keep this up to date. Clients will be pre-paying for your services based on your availability via the scheduling calendar.
Something came up and I need to cancel an appointment.We understand that emergencies come up and appointments may need to be rescheduled. You will need to contact the client and select an alternative date for the appointment. You are accountable for rescheduling.
Will I receive a phone call when scheduled?No, but you will be emailed with the clients name, address, phone number and tutoring needs the moment the client fills out the online form. You must make contact within 12 hours of receiving the email.
Does The Tutoring Annex, LLC carry an insurance policy?Our company carries a general liability policy.
My client wants to write me a check or pay in cash.Many clients will want to write a check or pay you in cash for your next tutoring session. We do not allow teachers to accept funds from clients at any time unless you have spoken to a regional manager.
My client requested that I come today but has not scheduled me.You should call your client and request that they schedule you through the web platform prior to showing up for an appointment. We are not accountable for payments made outside our scheduling system.
Who brings supplies to the tutoring session?You will need to communicate with your client to find out what, if any, supplies you will need to bring. We recommend that you have the client order any supplementary material. The Tutoring Annex, LLC does not issue supplies to teachers.
How do you advertise?Our program is not advertised through traditional marketing programs. We contact teachers directly to inform them of our program. We also work through school guidance programs and administrators to ensure our staff are contacted when needed. Our web page also generates a large proportion of our clients.
